Lockdown 2.0

Lockdown 2.0 was always something we were hoping wouldn’t happen here at Earland Brothers. For us like many other businesses small and large, it comes at what should be our busiest time of the trading year.

Given that we have had to shut the retail side of the business, we are looking at new ways to sell online with the help of the younger Earland generation who are more social media and tech savvy! Whilst the children are willing to suggest new ideas from the comfort of our office, the Earland Brothers love working outside on the markets. Andrew and Richard would be much more content fighting the elements in the rain, snow, winds and storms that are often around at this time of the year. You might say you know which environment you prefer but after a lifetime of working outdoors, it's where they thrive!

Over the past 35 years on the markets we have met so many people that have become our loyal customers. People who not only buy something but pop in for a chat, bring us a cup of coffee, tell us about their ailments, the list goes on! In fact, our job description probably extends to being much more than just the “hat man on the market”. We have been lucky enough in our working career to be able to say that it is a varied, sociable job and great business to have.

We want to let all of our market customers know that we will be back trading as soon as it is possible and safe. In the meantime, we are very happy to take any orders online or, if like Andrew and Richard, you are better at speaking to someone there is always someone at the end of the telephone 0116 2792428. Not everything we have on the markets is on our website, eBay or Amazon but we do have the stock and would be delighted to help if we can.

For now though while we are a little quieter than we would normally be we are enjoying spending time with our families, catching up with work on the farm and have even found time for a new hobby.
